Built my 21 today on the Ford website.... In 21 my truck was $47,600, now is $53,045. A $5445 increase. An 11.4% increase in 17 months. In a word, Unsustainable.
Oh I don't know. Many supplies in my business have gone up 100-200% in the last 2 years. I think 11.4% is not bad, not that I like it. It's all relative.
If your selling it and can get the price great. If you have to replace it with newer well that price has gone up, did the value really increase...not really.
If wages don't follow, then you can price yourself out of business.
But, that's part of the thing with supply and demand, if they get priced so high that demand drops significantly, then the price will drop as well.
Right now, supply is low and demand is high, so prices follow.
Pricing is actually well behind the curve in the current situation.
So, if the current price is too high to get you to buy new, then you better take care of the truck you have now so it will last until the situation becomes more favorable.

The f-series is not the Chevy bolt, and with that, when has the f-series ever been cheaper the following year?
Interesting, thanks for the info. 11.4% is not small potatoes at these prices, but after thinking about it, it doesn't seem so out of whack. Like so many others, I have been forced to raise the fees for my business services. Some is due to increases in prices of my materials and supplies, other increased fees for services my business uses, and of course, fuel as I drive my '02 7.3L Diesel from job site to job site. My fees have increased by 11% overall and one service by only 8% despite the 15% increase on my end. I've tried not to make my clients suffer from all the increases, but I cannot afford for my business to absorb the impact without passing on the increases. I imagine Ford is passing along their price increases. The question is whether or not they are taking advantage of the situation. I certainly couldn't make a determination.
All businesses have margins they have to meet to stay in business. In the end, it is the consumer who has to decide if it is worth it or not. As a business owner, I need a reliable truck to work. Do I figure the price of equipment in my fees? You bet I do, When you look at the total number of Superduties that are sold, I would venture to say that a very large portion are used in some type of business and they will keep buying. The casual user will probably rethink the purchase. Either go to a smaller vehicle or extend years of purchase.
My 22 build has gone up $5,145 since I ordered mine last spring before any of the increases (sticker on mine was $59,890). I know I for sure haven’t seen my salary go up 8.5% in the past year
From my original order date (5/24/2021) the total MSRP was $65,575. At the time of pick up (9/24/2021) it showed $66,255 on the window sticker. Today, when building it on the Ford site it comes to $70,535! So $4,780 increase from the time of my order til today.... It'll be interesting too see what the price difference is once it changes to the 23MY prices...
Glad I bought my F350 last year. I watched the price on a 2wd small v8 Scottsdale c10 go from $5700 to $7900 in the span of four years during carter’s reign. Made my mind up to get a new truck if that scenario were to repeat itself. Course I needed the F350 as my 11 yr old 1/2 ton was no longer up to the task.
Now that Ford is pulling resources away from internal combustion engine to fund electric vehicles, and runaway inflation is here for the foreseeable future, I would guess component quality & improvement will suffer too.
Aluminum and steel prices are way up, diesel and gas obviously, not to mention the cost of every single part that goes into the truck and there are thousands. Those prices get passed onto the consumer unfortunately…
Day of order, 07 April 2021, my MSRP was $54,190 which was only $300 over the last 2021 model price. Just did the build-a-truck tool and the same truck today MSRP is $59,725 for an increase of $5,535
I took delivery on 15 Sept 2021 and the MSRP had increased $500 to $54,690 at that point. I was price protected.
My son's 06 F-150 has 350,000 miles on it and I don't think he's going to be able to replace it with anything nice the way things are going.
