My name is Gene, and I am a transplant from the 67-72 forums. I just picked up a 93 F-150 4X4 for an around town, hauling random stuff, going to town rig, and I am having issues with a high idle condition.
I bought it from a buddy, and he came over this evening and we used his OBD1 code reader to pull codes on the truck. We are getting the following codes, and I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction, so I can get this fixed. Said buddy just had the heads rebuilt and installed all new gaskets on the engine, there is also a new EGR pipe in place, but he did not replace the vacuum lines when rebuilding the top end.
Codes are as follows and they are listed in the order the codes were received while troubleshooting:
code 33 -rc EGR valve opening not detected (no change in EVP when EVR activated)
code 41 -r- HEGO sensor circuit indicates system lean - (No idea at all what a "HEGO" sensor is
code 67 o-- Neutral Drive Switch (NDS) circuit open; A/C or Defrost on (Manual) during test (operator error)
then we received the following code:
code 12 -r- Cannot control rpm during Self-Test high rpm check
Hopefully my question is comprehensive enough that someone is able to pint me in the correct direction to resolve this issue.
Throw those test results in the trash. It appears that you only ran the KOER (engine running) test? If not, what did you get from the KOEO (engine off) test? What did you do to repair the codes in the KOEO test and did you erase the codes to get rid of the stored codes? You need to repair any KOEO odds before moving on to the KOER test.

From the Innova 3145 owner’s manual:
The tests we ran were Key on, Engine off, so I am not sure how your comment applies here. I don't own the code reader in question, so I had to rely on the fact that my friend said he knew what he was doing. I have my own code reader on the way from Amazon now, so I guess I will read the manual and start the process over when it arrives.
Thanks for trying to help.
need more info on engine/trans combo, most of the codes you list, is the engine running codes, could have counted wrong, or need to reset PCM, and take it for a drive, and then check codes again.

5.0/E4OD, codes were taken with the truck not running, just sitting in the parking spot at my apartments. I used one of the Innova code readers, so it displayed numbers, no counting involved. I will Google how to reset the PCM, then check the codes again.
Understood, but My4Fordtrucks post #3, was straight from the Innova book/manual, and 2 of those codes were KOER codes (12- throttle goose, and 67 -Neutral Drive Switch (NDS) circuit open; A/C or Defrost on (Manual) during test (operator error), was why suggested clearing codes and drive then retest, sorry for the confusion.
I said that because you posted engine running codes. You wouldn’t have received those during an engine off test. The there is a section in the code reader manual that states how to clear the codes.
