Value Question

Hi all,
I may reluctantly have to sell my Excursion and I am asking for some help putting a value on it. It’s a 2000 7.3 4x4 Limited with exactly 200k miles on it. Black with the gold fender trim and tan leather. It is not a beauty queen as you can see from the pics. The right rear fender trim is torn and there are some dents and dings. The exterior is 5 or 6 out of 10. The interior is actually pretty decent and cleans up nicely, say 6 or 7 out of 10. It’s overall cosmetically decent, but no show winner. It is mechanically excellent.

The previous owner towed big and had steering issues that he tried to correct by throwing money into aftermarket parts. He installed a redhead steering box, Helwig rear bar, and road master active suspension. None of those things worked because they were not the problem. When I bought it, it did not steer especially well. I rebuilt the whole front end with moog parts, installed caster bushings to achieve proper caster, replaced the original shocks with new Bilsteins, and put on new BFG KO2s. All work was done by a professional shop. That was in 2018. Now it drives perfectly. It will track straight down the highway with one finger on the steering wheel.

In the interim, I have also replaced the vacuum pump, a bunch of vac lines, replaced all injectors with brand new oem units, replaced the injector harnesses, had the fuel tank flushed and cleaned, and probably some other things I’m forgetting.

The Bad: The driver’s door lock actuator is starting to go. The driver’s door window is getting slow to roll down (but rolls up fine). Heated seats aren’t working (not the fuse, but maybe a relay or something?), and it does have some rust in the rockers. It’s not terrible by Amy means and there’s no rust anywhere else. I checked the windshield, hinges on the back doors and glass, etc.

Any thoughts on value? I expect to get a pretty large range of answers, so would likely do some averaging😆. I’d like to sell for a fair price given the market. I was planning on having the rockers replaced and doing the paint and body and keeping it forever, but things change….
Thanks!

I would start at 12k and drop $500 every week. You should expect about 9 to 10k.
It books at 8.5 to 12k in good condition.

How much rust? The 7.3 4x4 Excursions that are not really rusted bad are holding their value in most area's even if at 200,000 miles and there are a LOT of people looking for a 7.3. This motor can run 300-400,000 miles. Saw one last week sell for little over $20.000. Might be worth a little money to fix a few things if it is solid. Rust is what is killing these trucks not too many miles.

The 7.3 with careful maintenance, and taking care of it can last beyond 300-400, there are examples that are over 500,000 miles, that is farther than going to the moon and back.

Thanks for the feedback. The rust in my rockers is enough to warrant replacing them, but not terrible. It’s also stable. I’ve owned the truck for about 5 years and it has not gotten any worse. It spent the first part of its life in Indianapolis, so much worse conditions. If I got the rockers replaced, it would essentially be “rust free” other than typical surface rust. I may just go ahead and do that. If I could only get $12k, I would definitely find a way to keep it. It’s just too good a truck and so incredibly useful. I recently drove it to a pinball show and easily put a pinball machine and arcade machine in the back with room to spare. It’s such a great vehicle.
