There's been a lot of "discussion" around here (though not as much lately it seems) about all the problems with the ESOF system and the merits of manual vs. ESOF 4X4 systems.
I sure as heck don't want to start the debate again, but I just felt like I needed to post a positive experience.
I just got back from a hunting trip (successful!) where I spent about 50% of the time plowing through snow up to the bumper, 40% on snowy/icy gravel roads/trails, and 10% on pavement. Never once did I get stuck, and there were a lot of half tons that needed tows over the 2 days.
The ESOF worked flawlessly, and I must have engaged and disengaged it at least 25 times. Hubs alway unlocked (surprised me actually, ALL hubs tend to freeze in those conditions) and the transfer case shifted into both 4X4 and 4X4 Low without fail.
Just a to the ESOF system and to the 4X4 capabilities of the SD.
Three (between three of us) nice young bucks (spikes to 6 pointer), not trophies, but they sure are gonna taste good.
I could write a book on the wildlife we saw.
At least 100 Antelope, ~200 pheasants (I saw more in two days than in my entire life combined, including TAME ones), 100's of Partridges and Sharp-tail Grouse, rabbits (Jacks and Cottontails), porcupines, badgers, Mule and White-tail deer, etc...
It's been cold, and there's lots of deep snow, the couple days we were hunting was the first warm weather in weeks, so everyone was out making an appearance and getting a bite to eat.
Waxy
P.S. About as specific as I'll be about the location is - Somewhere in Alberta.
hey waxy...
glad to hear everything worked like it is "supposed to". Sounds like you had a great hunt...congrats...I've still yet to make it out for the deer hunt yet...I'm hoping this weekend
ESOF rocks.... if you don't have ESOF you're living in the old days when all manufacture's engagement systems were the same..... when you old timers ever going to learn??
