I raced a chevy once. In downtown Waterville Maine. he stopped racing at 45 MPH, wussy. Mid 90's lifted 4x4 1500 with duals vs. my 79 F150 351M 4x2. I kinda drive like an idiot all the time though, and its hard to tell if anyone is racing me. eh!
I like good race stories. Specially when both people racin give the "thumbs up" or pull over to check out each others ride. I don't race much but if I lose I sure wouldn't mind checkin out the other guys outfit for the fun of it. It's not fun when you race people that have a chip on the shoulder whenever they win or lose.
Coolmint...I'd never heard that about the Fish & Game. Thats funny. Seems like whenever I put in for a late hunt, I don't ever get a tag.
Mattsbox99....I agree completely. SHOOT, SHOVEL and SHUTUP!
Originally posted by dclarson Sorry bout the long geometry lesson. It's just what I do for a living. When I'm not getting caught screwing around on FTE!!
FYI....A 45 degree grade = a 100% grade.
Haha, obviously you do not knwo me very well, The geometry lesson was not needed, Anyways, the only reason I did not get my math right was the fact that I did not know that a 45 deg was considered a 100% climb. knowing that you would have seen my math correct....perhaps the 7 % thing is something only up north where they have weather? While I am not good at judging distances and all, I can almost swear that some of the hills and bridges are steeper than that.
I know man....I am an aircraft electrician and enviromental (aircraft HVAC and pressurization) journeyman in the USAF...on the side I try and work on Fords if I have the money, or play on the comp if i don't. I am good with maths and sciences, decent in history and I suck in English or anything dealing with words. I am not currently in my primary career field, cannot tell you exactly what i do...but i do sit behind a computer ALL day....part of my job is dispatching. I am from Lousiana, used to be Texas, I prefer Texas, but live in Arkansas, just glad to be in the south. I am a country boy who loves his trucks and american muscle. I am very opinionated and stubborn. I opted for the military feeling I owed my country somehting, and turned down a full acedemic scholarship to La Tech university. cannot decide which was the better option, financially I know which would have been, but there is more to it than that IMHO, well that is me.
And nice truck BTW
back to original thread topic...
I actually like the mid to late 90s Dodge Pickups, well their looks any ways, I will be getting one soon hopefully actually, only problem is well the transmision of course.
Jimmy Dean, my youngest son recently bought a '97 3/4T Dodge with their 6 cyl turbo diesel and 5 spd tranny. From what we discovered when he was looking, the 6 spd is trouble, but about the only problem the 5 spd has is a nut backs off on the OD that keeps it from engaging. A pain, but no major issue. I like his truck - had deep lungs and long legs on hills. I have a little trouble getting used to a redline of 3 grand tho
dclarson, I'll probably hunt in the Big Hole area or Thompson Falls. Should the weather get too bad I'll stay closer to home - Eureka or Libby. I know about chains - a trick I've learned from the loggers around here - when running 4 wheel drives use the chains on the front axle where your weight is. Only on the rear with 2wd.
M kid with the Dodge got his first bear last month - pepper sticks and jerky came out awesome. Good luck to all of you hunters! Won't be long till the hounds are chasing lions again!
