I’m trying to get the ac working on my new to me 1988 f250. The previous owner converted it to r134a, so that’s good. The problem is the compressor doesn’t come on. I thought it might be low on refrigerant, but it’s not, which is also good. I tried to out a volt meter on the compressor plug, but it shows like .02 volts, which is weird, but when the ac is off it’s actually higher, around .2v. Does anyone know of a troubleshooting guide? The light on the ac button comes on, and I’m sure there’s a bunch of pressure switches and relays somewhere, I just don’t know where to start. Thanks
cool, thanks for the help! I jumped around the pressure switch and the compressor came on. Then the pressure was lower, so I wasn't reading the correct static pressure before. Turns out it was low, after charging it blows colder, but not what I would consider cold. I am going to run it for a while and see if it leaks out. The truck has been sitting for a while, and I'm hoping the sealant additive in the refrigerant will take care of it, but that's probably optimistic. Anyway, happy that the system itself works, I can deal with replacing o-rings later if necessary.
