I recently purchased a 2001 Ford Excursion XLT 5.4L 4x4 from out of state and had it delivered to me in May. Yes I know it’s the 5.4L, but I work from home and don’t tow anything. Just wanted an older large SUV to haul my family around in comfortably.
I’ve been lurking in this forum for about a month or so, and decided it seemed like a great community to join. Glad to be here officially now.
I plan on sharing my Excursion soon but I wanted to wait until the lift and new wheels/tires get put on this coming up Monday. This Excursion only if had 1 owner it’s entire 21 years of life and was garage kept I was told. It’s in really great condition (so far) inside and out.
Even though I haven’t had the Excursion longer than 2 months, I’ve been busy messing around with it. So far I’ve:
- replaced all interior and most of the exterior lighting. New LED headlights.
- cut off the factory catalytic converter, muffler and resonator. Replaced with a high flow cat and FlowMaster Super 44 muffler.
- Bought 37x12.50r17 BF Goodrich A/T KO2s and new 17x10 Vision wheels
- BDS 6” suspension-replacement leaf springs all the way around. Fox 2.0 shocks front and rear. Dual Fox steering stabilizing, and more suspension related parts.
- SCT X4 Tuner with custom tunes
- replaced factory radio with a 7” touch screen double din head unit w/ backup camera.
- regular maintenance stuff like fresh synthetic oil and new oil filter, had to replace the DPFE sensor, replaced the blower motor, new serpentine belt, new air filter (came with a K&N air filter but needs to be cleaned), bought new Motorcraft spark plugs, and I’m sure there will always be something to fix.
I do have a question regarding the ERG Vacuum Regulator solenoid and EGR valve, but I’ll create a new thread for that.
