I think the bottom line really is that it can be done with aftermarket motors, with some aesthetic concessions for the payoff of function, but it is certainly possible to wire up factory, but it is not as easy as the aftermarket option and probably quite a bit more involved and difficult for the average guy or at least someone who is just on this side of the fence of function v. fit.

either way works. The issue as I see it is later down the road if the aftermarket stuff breaks…the company may not be on business, parts may be harder to obtain and the quality of parts may be questionable. If you go with a “factory” system at least parts are obtainable. Granted yiu go aftermarket replacements quality is again questionable. Also there is less fabrication with a factory system as it’s designed for that vehicle. So all the bolt holes line up and you’re not fabricating and drilling holes to make stuff work.
I just always prefer a factory replacement/upgrade over a aftermarket system in such case as this.
really wiring stuff up isn’t really that hard. There are plenty of online schematics. But I do building systems electrical so for me it’s probably easier as far as relays and making them do stuff I want done.
I have an '07 Ram ST (basic model). I added PW by installing the OEM power window regulators and an aftermarket switch kit. The switch kit is from either A1Electric...or maybe someone else. The only thing different I would do is add relays. I asked A1Electric about it, they said it would be ok without them. It does work fine, just a little slower than OEM, which does use relays.

That's right. I do remember seeing this 3rd method mentioned somewhere, but don't think I ever really came across any good information or anecdotal experiences like yours.

You don’t really wanna run high amperage through switches. The idea of a switch is to turn on a relay that can take the higher amperage draw of whatever you’re controlling. I never run anything as a direct draw through a switch. I always use fuses and relays. It may add some extra work but overall it’s better designed that way.
hey ifrythings i got a cab harness from a crew cab but my issues is my truck is a 2 door truck am i able you pin out the wires for the back half the truck.
I’m doing this on an 08 right now, I went to the local wrecking yard and pulled the window regulars (all 4 doors) door panels, door switches, it was easier to pull the door latches then trying to pull the lock motor off of, grabbed the wiring out of all the doors and the cab wiring harness which makes everything plug and play.
It’s a bit of work but not hard, doing it this way also gave me a lot of extra features like door locks, power windows, power mirrors, pre-wiring for heated and turn signal mirrors, power seats, heated seats, pre-wired for power sliding rear window, tweeters in the rear doors (higher trim level option), pre-wired for the factory door keypad, pre-wired for a center console outlets and power pedals just to name a few things I can remember right now.
For the power windows all you have to do is swap the window regulator, the glass and door is the same, you will need the door panels though to get rid of the crank window hole and have the spot for the switches and on my truck I gain door pockets as the xl truck didn’t have them.
I can’t say what that would all cost you around your area but for me it was $200 and I pulled everything myself.
hey i got a cab harness from a crew but my truck is a 2 door can i just got rid of the wires i dont need.
how do you get it to not say rear door open cause won’t it say that
yiu need to find the wires that go to the lock door ajar sensor and then either find out the ohm value and replace it with a resistor or if it’s a simple open close switch then just connect the wires together for the door latch switch and cap them off
