I have 90 2.9 motor I swapped into a 91 ranger that had a 3.0 auto. I had to change a lot, wiring harness bellhousing etc. The 90 was 5speed. My problem is hooking up wiring for the auto. Mainly getting the overdrive and nuetral saftey switch to work. Any help would be appreciated.
Ken thanks for the input. I saved the 3.0 computer, but the wiring harness at the engine needed to be the 2.9 for the different sensors. There is a connector from the trans. with 8 wires in it . Of course the 2.9 harness had no place to plug into it. I would happiliy splice into the old harness if I knew where to put it .Thanks Mike.
There should be a bk/w & w/bk wire to hook up the neutral switch. The tranny has a w wire for the converter clutch solenoid, a t/lb wire for the 3-4 shift solenoid and a red for the other side of both solenoids.
Ken thanks alot I'll try to hook these up as soon as it stops raining here and let you know how it comes out. Also the man I bought the 91 Ranger extended cab XLT from said he put in a new carrier bearing but that I should loosen the bolts an let it find it's own center. Well I had it loose but not sure what he meant. It does have a small vibration that seems to me could be from that area. Any advice? By the way what book did your wiring diagram come from, and what year was it for? Mike.
