Hey guys, I have a '98 2.5L auto. ranger and whenever I give it a little bit of gas the throttle sticks a bit. This is only when I am taking off of a dead stop. Thought I might need to clean the throttle body up but when I was going to I saw the big sticker that said "Do not clean throttle plates" because of some special coating. What is this all about? Thank You.
You can use the "Throttle Body Cleaner", is made specifically with that coating in mind, will not remove it, just the gunk. Now whatever you do, do not confuse the Carb Cleaner with the Throttle Body Cleaner, the carb cleaner will remove the coating!

Huuummmmm, I am not (AT ALL) sure about the 2.5 in 1998, but my 4.0 had a TSB the on throttle sticking. There is/was a problem with cable routing, or anchoring (can't remember which).
You might want to research that - or call a Ford dealer and ask.
