Confused

01 f150 5.4 4x4 213,000 miles.
So I recently replaced my plugs. Truck was running better than it was before. And today my wife went to start it and it wouldn't do anything. Wouldn't turn over or make a sound. all of the accessories work and gauges. Battery was bought a little over a month ago. New alternator bout 5 months ago. I made sure the battery cables were good checked the connection with the solenoid. Idk what it could be I'm not a mechanic but ok with doing moderate jobs on it. but idk where to really start. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance

Check for 12 volts on the small wire at the starter when in crank position
If there replace the starter

The fender apron solenoid is cheap and easy but it is the most replaced item in the industry.
Meaning that it is replaced for no reason (replaced while good)

While that would tell you that there is control voltage why not check for 12v out on the large terminal going to the starter so you know the large high amp contacts are working?

Mainly because the big wire very seldom fails and the little wire breaks off real often

Because you have to have the trigger signal on the small wire before the relay will switch power to the big cable to the starter. If the relay "clicks" in START, the trigger is getting to the starter.

You have to discern which half (or part) of the system is or isn't working. If the trigger isn't getting there, there's no point in checking further downstream since the problem is upstream.
