Must be nice to have all that free money lying around. Sounds like a good plan but it seems like a lot of work for a truck that isn't exactly super mobile.
because it is cool.... all the cool guys do it, didn't you know that??
lol... really, can't wait to see that setup.... who cares why or what. as long as your not a member of the whack pack... i think you're cool and would love to see your soon to be different setup!
thank you for those web pages. I am wanting to do this for the ride and adjustability. Also to be a little different. I found a rear 4 link setup minus air bags at truckin suspension, and it was only $799, and then I plan on fabricating the front bars and mounts. I will post pics when I get done but it might be awhile.
Personally I'd be a little bit cautious with the Truckin/AIM/Chassis Tech products. A buddy of mine used to run some of their products and installed some for some for other people........I've seen some broken parts and parts that needed modification to work. Only thing of theirs he still runs is their c-notch.....ditched the rest of their complete F&R airbag setup.
Is the one they sell a bolt on or does it need to be welded?
I know on their complete 4 link front and rear air bag setup that it was a complete bolt on with no welding required.
You could design your own triangulated rear four link and mounts as well. There are companies that can sell you all the mounts, rod ends, and tubing.
That sounds like a better idea. I was kind of worried about truckins' quality of their products. I have another question on the front is it going to be the same setup as the back? This will be the first time to fab something like this, but I have a friend that builds them for race cars. Also what companies can I buy those mounts and ends from?
Now, I haven't built one......but from the little bit I know:
I'd triangulate the rear four link so as not to need to run a panhard bar.....a panhard bar would cause the axle to move side to side when you cycle the suspension (this happened on the 4 link my buddy used to run on his dually).
For the front I don't think it would need to be triangulated since the trac bar will keep the front axle centered under the truck.
I happen to know the owner of a shop who is doing a full bed cage, int. cage and four link on an 01' 250 V-10(I think). If you want, e-mail me and I will give you his number. He is in Simi Valley, Ca but I am sure he could give you some tips.
