I was looking for the cord to plug my diesel in today because it is finally starting to get cold enough that I thought I would at least find the cord in case I needed to plug in one night. I can't find the cord. My question is whether all 6.0L come with an engine warmer or is it an option that you have to specify when you order the truck. Maybe it's just tucked away and I can't find the plug.
Thanks.... I know this might have been a stupid question.
Yes should be right behind the drivers side bumper, My last PSD was a 99' and it started fine even at -4 below zero, without being plugged in !!!The times I have plugged it in, when it starts, it sounded like the engine ran real ruff, like 2 cylinders were alot warmer then the others ???? ( like the engine was galloping) for the first minute or so ! Just what I noticed .
Chris,
from prior discussions, the block heater plug looks like it moves around on Ford !!!
On MY '03 Ex 6.0L it is zipped tied to the wire loom just in front of the passenger side radiator edge...
It's a black, three prong receptacle with a plastic cover to prevent trash from entering...
VERY hard to find !
I didn't find mine until I had pulled my grill while relocating my stock fogs...
Here's a link to another discussion:
I've heard different reports about where "they found their's", but
Mine is zip tied and pointing down on the wire loom running just behind the grill about in line with the left (passenger side) edge of the radiator...
Black, three prong receptacle with end cap...
Had to lay down under the bumper and look up the front of my Ex...
