heating problems

Okay, my thermostat isn't the cause.
I just changed it. STill cold air after running for 10 mins.
SHould be warmer then that on a v8.

Is the heater core any difference for the heat?
I spose that would be next to swap out right?

My dad says he can smell that the engine is running a lil hot.
So i'm guessing something isn't cooling. But i do know the rest of the system is working fine, I'm pretty sure of that.

suggestions?

Have you flushed the heater core?

your water pump might not be working properly causing your engine to heat up because water isnt circulating. and if water isnt circulating you dont get any heat to your heater core. just a guess

open your rad cap on the truck car van . and start it let it run and watch the fluid in the rad. you can actually tell when and if the t-stat opens by the level of the water and youll see it move. if it doesnt and it overheats stop the engine and replace the t-stat.
not all t-stats work out of the pack boil water in a pot on the stove and place stat in the water to see if it opens. if it does i suggest draining your rad and replace you stat and refill the fluid slowlly, once full start your engine and continue filling your rad with engine at idle. remember slowlly..
it could be that your rad cap is faulty as well repalce there cheap and the little hose from the rad cap to the rad resivior as well if that is cracked it could cause it to overheat.
if your block heater is pooched youll smell a sweat smell in the truck or see your carpet on the passenger side is wet at the top.
these are the cheap best suggestions i have. let me know.

I talked to a guy about it.
I'm just gonna hand flush the heater core out.
I guess if you dont change the fluid often for the water system it can cause your heater core to plug up. Pluss the truck has been setting.
So thats a maybe 1 hour job tops. Just a hose and a lil fun with antifreeze.
