I have a '18 F350 6.7 with 75k on the odometer. I have owned it for about a year and a half and put about 10k on it. I do not have the death wobble, just a bit of vibration sometimes on bumpy spots but nothing really major. Anyway I have been noticing the truck pulling a bit to the right and am noticing a bit of tire wear plus I have a discount coupon for an alignment at my Ford dealer. My question is.....do I have it aligned to Ford spec's or is the different settings that I should 'request'? The P.O. had a leveling kit installed in the front and like I said, aside from being a little wonky in a washboard type road it really is pretty stable. Any recommendations?
Very few adjustments on these trucks, mostly toe and the factory specs are good. Sometimes caster is a little low and wandering can be an issue, the little bit of wobble is likely a worn steering stabilizer. Keeping that fresh will save on other steering joints. If the caster is a little low you can buy new shims that will correct it. At 75k you could be getting close to needing some front end steering parts, the shop should be able to tell you. If you need some, do them all, tie rod ends, drag link, panhard bar bushing and ball joint and the steering stabilizer. Axle ball joints should still be good for a while.
Have them print off a copy of the alignment specs and post them here for feedback. Everything that RidgwaySD said and you want the caster to be at the higher end of the spec on these trucks. If your PO did the leveling correctly your bushings were changed to add the needed caster back after the level and you are all set. You can ask the alignment tech to tell you what degree bushings are in there.
