16” wheel swap
I am wanting to swap to a 16” wheel due to what I consider better choices for tire size (225/85/16) but cannot seem to get info on what wheel will fit. I have come across a post that stated 1500 Ram wheels are a fit but I cannot seem to locate the years that apply.it appears 16” wheels were an option on some mid 70’s Fords, and I believe they are 5 on 5.5 with 108mm hubs, which is what is standard on this truck.
’62 F100 4WD, 292 4 speed.
also having issues posting a picture! Tech savvy daughter said it is probably due to my using a mobile device and the forum is set for desktops ?.
I have 16x8's on my 77, had 255/85/16's and 285/75/16's on them at different times, they also fit on my 66 F100, well, the rims did
not with the 33's.
I had the blue and red stripes removed with enamel reducer. I wanted them all white.
I'm running General Tire Grabber UHP summer tires, 255/65R16. They have an aggressive tread. Zero traction problems in light snow and even mud, and I have an open diff. I have 3 inch spacers in the rear and no spacers in front. They're about 29 inches tall, and I believe my speedo is about 3 MPH slow.
Here's how she looks. You can get your hand between the rear tires and the fender, even with a 1,250 pound load. I have no clearance issues there, even over potholes, etc. I have a rebuilt suspension with new 950 pound leaf springs in the back and new coils up front, plus new shocks, so she doesn't move up and down much.
