I have a 2000 excursion v10 6.8 that I’m about to drive into a lake!!! I drive to Charleston (10 hours total) and southwest Florida (22 hours total) and only had the fuse blow 2 times!! Now I’m back home and it blows as soon as I put it in or as soon as I push on the brake. I am no mechanic and I certainly am not knowledgeable in any sense with electrical but with the problems I’ve been having with my Ex I’m losing my mind. Not having brake lights, turns signals and hazard lights is dangerous and I have my 4 kids in this thing!
Any help that is appreciated but the more basic and broken down the better I’ll understand lol.
Thanks!
Skip the drama. As Sgt Friday always said, "Just the facts..."
Which fuse box? You have two fuses labeled as F13, one in each box.
Clarify exactly when the fuse blows, immediately when inserted, only when the brake pedal is pressed, or both.
If it blows immediately, without regard to the brake pedal having been pressed, was recall 05S28 ever performed on this truck? Leaky SCDS on the brake master cylinder were notorious for causing this fuse to blow.
It’s the fuse box inside my car under the steering wheel.
Unfortunately the fuse blows in both situations. Sometimes it blows as soon as I put it in and sometimes it does it as soon as I put any pressure on the brake.
The recall has been done on my excursion. That was one of the first things I verified.
Thank you and I look forward to any help you can give!
Unplug the SCDS on the brake master cylinder anyway and see if the issue resolves temporarily. You will lose cruise control in this configuration. Examine the switch and harness connectors for brake fluid.
