No Wait to Start Light

Lots of chatter on this subject however can't seem to locate a definitive answer or solution. My truck 2000 F250 7.3 powerstroke ZF6 4x4. The issue started with a dimly lit "wait to start light", however the engine would start. This progressed to no wait to start light and a rapid clicking noise from fuse panel under hood (driver side), engine cranks fine. Also the truck has two new Motorcraft batteries. Go to solution seems to be, unplug heater in bottom of filter housing, and check #30 fuse under dash. I did both of these. Unplugged and verified the fuse is good with a meter. Also replaced the relay in underhood fuse box (the one that was clicking). No change.............. Another suggestion I found was to verify the power feed to underhood fuse box (see pics). I removed the wire, cleaned connection and reattached + verified with a meter 12 volt reading at the fuse. Again no change............ Am Iooking at a new computer or are there other checks to perform? Grounds?

Both relays are new Motorcraft., New Beru glow plugs, new glow plug wiring harness under both valve covers. Truck will not start however it cranks over just fine.

Relay clicking is usually caused by weak batteries and/or poor electrical connections. Check and clean your grounds and connections. And it looks to me like there is corrosion in the wire to connector connection in that fuse box feed line. Voltage is one thing but amps is another. Do you have a way to see how many amps are coming through the eye connector? Check your connections through the starter solenoid on the passenger's side fender. Your fuse boxes run through that.

I cleaned the connection at the box, photo was before cleaning. Relay on pass fender is also new. Wondering about underhood fuse box. Possibly disassemble it check for additional corrosion? What about grounds?

Look where that connector on the end connects to the wire. Do you see that green stuff? It indicates corrosion inside of the sheathing.

Yes, I also noticed that however only way I know to remove / eliminate that would be cutting off the factory wire end and replacing it. I sprayed it with battery terminal cleaner (stuff that turns color indicating acid leak), after spraying and drying with a cloth I covered it with dielectric grease and reinstalled. Tested with meter before disassembly and after reassembly and both indicated 12 volts at the wire and one side of fuse connection.

Could this possibly be due to a bad cam sensor?

On second thought, if the cam sensor was defective, the wait to start light would still work, it just wouldn't start the engine.........

So the symptoms now are no WTS light, clicking under dash, and engine cranks but does not start?

Fuse for WTS is replaced?

Worth checking the wiring on the GPR, make sure they are all present and on the correct terminal.

Which under hood relay did you replace? These are 2 that can cause a no WTS

I want to say it was 2nd or 3rd from bottom right. When I turned the key and laid a finger on each, it was immediately obvious which one it was.

Try swapping in a new/known good one on those two I pointed to. Make sure they are fully seated too. When I put in the cyclops relay I bumped the one next to it during removal good enough to not make good contact and got a no WTS

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Likely getting home very late this evening however I'll reply back after I get a chance to swap them around, which will probably be tomorrow evening. Just to be perfectly clear on this entire situation, this is a truck that I completely swapped every single wire in the entire truck over the last two years. (yes every single piece including the dash) was moved from a 100% functional superduty that was totally rusted out, into a very nice rust free truck from the south. The initial start up everything worked as it should. After test driving for around 40 miles, the issues started. At first the wait to start was dimly lit however the engine would start. It has eroded to the current state with zero wait to start light, rapid clicking from relay, engine cranks fine, no fuel pump and I assume no power to computer. One thing I haven't checked yet is the reset button on passenger side kick panel???

Yeah fuel interrupt on PS footwell is a good place to check.

Also inspect underside of the wire harness at the 42 pin connector on driver side valve cover. It can rub on the VC and short whatever unlucky wire is on the bottom of the bundle.
