THE "Chassis" factory manual, Vol. whatever, in section 16-03-2 gives instructions to adjust clutch. I am overthinking this & have gotten confused !!!
I adjusted my clutch pedal to 7 inches in the middle of pedal. My clutch bumper is almost worn out & until I get a new one this will have to suffice.
To adjust the free play, with spring disconnected from release fork does the adjust bullet need to touch the fork @ 0.2 +/- .02 with the release fork all the way pressed to the back towards the differential which would be like pressing the pedal all the way to the floor, ( I think ) or does release fork need to b pulled all the way towards the front of the truck ?
HELP.........LOL.........HA.........
You dont say if you have hydraulic clutch pedal or not. If not hydraulic, I adjust the pedal so that there isnt any pressure on the throwout bearing when no pressure is on the pedal.. There should be a couple of inches of pedal movement before the fork touches the bearing to the plate fingers.
Some clutch setups push the throw out arm, some pull it, doesn't make any difference, leave the spring on, adjust the rod so with petal all the way up, you have 1/2 to one inch of free play before you feel resistance when you push the petal down.
Thank u all. I have learned to walk away and take a break from a problem if things are not working, and when u return you can see things more clearly. You suggestions have helped greatly.
I have a mechanical clutch. It pushes a bullet arm into the release fork which a spring pulls fork against the bullet arm. So NOW I am still confused, but not as badly. I am very sleepy at the moment and hopefully I will understand better tomorrow.......
Release fork needs to be pushed towards rear of truck to press against release bearing, with with clutch spring connected and pulling from the front of truck.
With no pressure on release fork with spring disconnected do I need to pull the release fork towards the front and press the bullet arm against release fork to adjust the 0.2 space between the fork ? or Do I push the release fork all the way towards the release bearing to it just begins to engage the bearing or push completely until fully engage bearing ?
forgive for my confusion for my eyes r barely open & I wanted to ask post this now because I will not b able to log on again till tomorrow afternoon. This way hopefully I will have more advice tomorrow afternoon........... I am soooooooo close to driving this HotRod .........I can hardly wait.........
THANK-U ALL............
