So this morning at work I got a call to come to the parking lot…. A guy pulling a trailer got a little close to the front end of my truck. Thankfully my front license plate and the tow hook protected the front of the truck… I will have to buy another license plate and repaint the front of one tow hook. Is there any certain kind of paint that is best to paint the tow hook, and what should I use to get the red paint removed first?
If there is just paint transfer, try repeated rubbing with a rag soaked with mineral spirits or turpentine or paint thinner. The paint should slowly be removed if you keep rubbing it, moving to a new section of rag as the paint comes off.

Thanks. I’ll pick up some paint thinner or something this weekend and give it a try. Other than a little red paint on the tow hook and a bent front license plate there really isn’t any real damage. He gave me $50 and I called it good. I wasn’t interested in getting insurance and reports done. It wasn’t that bad and didn’t feel it was necessary to replace the hook just because of some paint. Thanks for the suggestions.
I thought that was from this same incident, in the same path of damage. Looks like he dragged the trailer across the tow hooks.
Yeah, from looking at (briefly) it today, it looked like it all happened today. It looks like the tow hook caught his trim at the back corner, then drug across the side of the trailer. I figure the corner trim dug the paint off the end of the tow hook, then the red paint left a small mark on the tow hook. I kind of felt bad for the guy... the faculty parking lot is small and he was trying to get his trailer in to work... after I realized it didn't really do anything to my truck I was ok and just asked him for $15 - $20 for a new license plate and a can of paint. He brought back $50.

I'll stop by somewhere and pick up a cam of the Rustoleum and give it a spray. After looking at it after work there really isn't much red, but it did take a chunk of the paint off, so I want to cover it back up is it don't start rusting or anything. I was just thankful that the tow hook and the front license plate stuck out far enough to protect the rest of the truck! Thanks for the suggestion on the Rustoleum!
