I noticed that the top painted surfaces of the vehicle seem that it doesn't have a clear coat on it.
The doors seem smoother, even after I just wax the entire vehicle.
I have 2 questions:
1) Does the vehicle leave the factory without a 'clearcoat' and then get a 'clearcoat' right before delivery to the dealer?
I seem to remember that's how Toyota does their Camry's. All the 'clearcoats' are added in the Southeast by Southeast Toyota, I believe.
2) I 've talked to my brother in law who works in service at a Mercury dealer and he said it was a bad paint job and to take it back to the dealer to have it re-done. He stated that he had one come in like that.
My problem is I bought it in Charlotte and live 160 miles away from the dealer I bought it from.
I'm thinking I should take it to my nearest Ford dealer. Would they do the paint job or re-apply a 'clearcoat'?
Again, excuse me for not understanding paint on vehicles, but I'm under the impression that a 'clearcoat' is added after the main painting is done....if this isn't true, then please excuse me.
I guess what I'm wondering is, can a local Ford dealer fix the problem because the top of all the painted surfaces really feels rough and not smooth at all and I don't want it to fade or get damage from sun because I did anything about it.

Looks and feels brand new.....saved a great deal of money because I believe Zaino's clay bar was $16.00 alone plus shipping, just for the clay bar.
Thanks USMCexplorer for the informaton that lead to fixing the problem.
