I have a 2001 Ext Cab XLT ranger. I have an large amp installed, but it is messy, and the wires are everywhere. I want to clean it up, putting the wires under the carpet, and the amp in the best place possible. Where is the easiest place to start putting my wires under the carpet. Also how to I get the panels off the doors to replace the stock speakers. Any tips, how-tos, or suggest are welcome.
i take it removing the carpet is outta the question? as for cleaning up the wires, id take off the door sill plate and kick panel. then run the wires under the carpet and where u have the amp mounted, cut a small X. then pull the wires through and make ur connections. then finish it off with some wire loom.
if you wanty the lazy way, i ran power wire along the door, and my signal wires along the center and put in one of those cable covers made of rubber that is supposed to go on the floor in school rooms and such
U'll be surprised at how easy it is to pull the edge of the carpet up. Remove the sill as stated and what ever else needs to be pulled off to access the carpet and bingo. Most mount the amp right on the sub box but if u dont have one mount it to a piece of wood then mount the wood under a seat. Make sure the screws that mount the amp to the wood dont go thru the wood and touch the truck as this can give you ground noise.
