Front Axle Questions

Howdy all,
I was just wondering which of the 87-96 F-250's had solid front axles and which had IFS, or if any had solid front axles at all. Also, what kind of axles and suspension did they have? Thanks, Drew

Most 250's have the dana 50 twin I beam. The Dana 60 solid front axle was a factory option on the 250's, but not one that was pushed by salesmen or sought after by many customers. when the u joints and ball joints on my twin I beam front end were all dried out and needed to be replaced, I chose to remove everything and install the dana 60 mono beam. It was an easy bolt on swap- took me less than 4 hours out in the driveway. All the 250's have leaf spring front suspensions. Any diffenences in spring ratings would be to accomodate a 460 or diesel.

Thanks for the info. That's exactly what I needed to know. Was the Dana 60 a kit that you bought, or did you just buy all the parts seperately? And how much did it all turn out to cost? Thanks again for your help - Drew
