Just a quick heads up for anyone working on their 3rd gen cooling system with 5.8L V8 351W.
I bought a Duralast TU25 today to replace the OEM sender switch for coolant temp. The Duralast version is too big for the OEM wire to attach. I also tried theTU25VC version and it was too big as well.
I measured the post as 0.085" on the Duralast and 0.062" on the one that I took out.
I had to take it back to Autozone and order the Motorcraft part # SW-2328. I will have the new part on Wednesday and I will confirm it fits later.
One reason I long ago stopped using so many aftermarket parts is for reasons just like this. No more fitment or function issues, no more running back and forth to parts stores hoping someone there will know what fits what. Over the years I've discovered a bit of internet searching finds Motorcraft or OEM parts costing close to the aftermarket brands.
As a suggestion this "generation" nonsense can be problematic as within whatever you define as a "generation" there will be differences highly affected by the year of manufacture.

Makes sense. I was trying to get things fixed in a time crunch so I went with what was available same-day. When I have more time, I will try and shop around for the motorcraft replacement. Is there a website I can find a breakdown for motorcraft part numbers?
Gotcha. I've seen the year range called the 3rd generation, but I will stop with that and just reference my year from now on.

RockAuto has a great catalog that very often will offer a Motorcraft part for a particular application--I'd try there but seek the actual purchase elsewhere, locally if possible.
