hi, I have searched, but not found exactly what I'm looking for so I'm hoping someone has the info off the top of their head.
so I have a 65 F250 turned into a F100. I had lowered it with dream beams and the rear brackets, then axle flip and cut a coil in front. now I would like to raise it back up a bit , as we now have a vintage travel trailer I want to tow with it. I want to put stock springs under the front and move the axle back under the springs in the rear.
my question is... what year axle from an F100 can I use without modifying anything? the 3rd member and axles and brakes in my current are almost new. Basically all I need is a stock housing to swap to. In my looking on the internet, it looks like I can use 1957-1972 and the housing and spring pads and shock mounts are in the right position. is this correct? I don't want to mod the housing I have now, cause, you never know when I will change my mind again... hahaha
thanks! picture for those who like to look at trucks.
I believe you are correct. There is also a 9 3/8" rear that looks very similar but is different inside; it might be a bolt-in as well.
Eric.
thanks for that reply. I had one of those in a 71 f100 years ago. I had completly forgot about the 9 3/8" unit. I googled that and it looks as if I come across one of those rear axle complete, I can use the housing.
Not sure, but you might find that the 9 3/8" has 31-spline axles, larger axle tubes, and larger bearings.
Pretty sure it will fit holus-bolus but I doubt it will accept all your new parts.
Maybe an expert will chime in.
Eric.
