Help please. I have a 56 F250 with the 8ft bed. It has 4 cross members to support the wood boards. I bought the spacer kit from mid-fifties that consist of 8 pieces, 2 for each cross member. Four are angled to match the shape of the frame, no problems there. The other 4 that are flat on both sides sit on the level section of the frame but there is no hole in the frame for a bolt to go through. I would have thought that a thru bolt securing the cross member to the frame would be more stable. The angled blocks and their cross members sit over a hole in the frame so a bolt goes through it all. What gives? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
If I understand correctly they should be long enough the bolts from the bed strips keep them from falling out side to side. There are 8 bolts to hold the bed to frame. 2 each in front and rear cross members. Then 2 each in the center cross members through the slanted blocks. I just got some of this from another member. Can I ask what the measurments of the squared blocks are? Dean
The spacer blocks are 1 5/8" wide, this is side to side width. Blocks are 1 3/8" thick and are 2 5/8" tall. They have a 9/16" hole through them. Again, the slanted blocks that sit right before and after the hump in the frame where the rear shocks attach to a cross member have corresponding holes in the top of the frame rail for bolts to pass through but those are the only holes in the frame top rail except for at the headboard area and at the very rear sill.
