Hello everyone I have a 2008 ford e350 econoline van with 152000 miles on it and the undercarriage is starting to get a lot of surface rust on it and want to undercoat it. Last fall I apply only 3 cans of Cosmoline rp 342 and it has work pretty well. But hard to do a whole undercarriage by myself. So was wondering is there anything better to use so I can do the whole undercarriage. I have to wash my vehicle frequently in the winter time because I live on a very muddy road. Any help is appreciated.
No, its a scam, what you'll do is stop any water/salt that gets to the frame from being washed off, watching Canadian guys try to save their vehicles using that, its futile, get frame spray, goes on thick.

So you are saying the cosmoli e could trap salt and dirt underit? Also whats frame wax specifically do you recommend a product like fluid film?
Too many want to take an easy way out of rust and corrioson, thinking there's just one product that'll be a one-and-done application, protecting a vehicle forever----ain't gonna happen. The best solution is to keep all areas subject to crap used on highways and city streets washed off.
If a product will trap this crap holding it close to metal surfaces that's the bigger concern. Fluid Film would be a better choice but even so its far from perfect or a one-and-done application. Routine maintenance will do more to save a vehicle than some miracle product.
The idea of undercoat is it is not trapping anything
You are to put it on a clean undercarriage
If you wait and do it later it needs to be steam cleaned
It's near impossible to remove cosmoline without stoddard solvent
You have got what we mechanics call a chocolate mess now

Okay thanks yes I only used 3 cans of cosmoli e rp342 and held up well I think I will take it to a shop and have them spray it with a oil based undercoat. Heres a pic of the rear axle with half of it covered with rp342 and the other half exposed.
Watching videos of Canadians trying to save their rides, DeBoss Garage is my favorite, its futile in the salt regions, tho I have read the cosmoline being the favorite, my shorty needs the underside addressed, never buy above my state again, I loathe rust repair, what you have is mild, most cases need sand blasted to clean it up, all the rust need removed before coating it.
