Hey guys, apologies for beating this dead horse but I've read through all the forums and still don't have an exact answer.
Anyone have 295/65r20 on a 2020+, with mudflaps and no snow plow prep or HD front springs? If so, pics would be awesome!
I know there are a million threads on this and I actually found one that asks this question, but all of the answers reference trucks with snow plow prep. Before I drop a boat load of cash on new tires, I just want to be sure they won't rub. If I have to stick with 285/65r20 to avoid rubbing, I will.
I’ve got a 2022 F350 6.7 with nothing special in the front. I’ve also got Gatorback mudflats, which aren’t small. I was in the same place you are, but the tire shop assured my they’d fit, and mine do fit with no rubbing or issues. Mine are actually 285/75R18, which is less than 1% taller than the ones you’re asking about. Here’s a picture for you. Still room left over.

Thanks! I think your set up is actually closer to 285/65r20.
285/75r18= 34.8 tall 11.2 wide
285/65r20= 34.6 tall 11.2 wide
295/65r20= 35.1 tall 11.6 wide
Based on that, 285/65r20 might be best for me. Your truck looks great and I think a bigger tire might actually make my front wheel well look stuffed or risk rubbing on full lock. Yours looks perfect as is.
The larger (295) tire will fit and you should be able to find plenty of posts stating that. When you start getting into the wider, 12.5 sizing, that's when slight radius arm rub can show up.

Off topic, but I like your filler strips between your cab and running boards!

Thanks, I'm not worried about the radius arms. I'm worried more about contacting the mud flaps on the way to full lock. The Ford mud flaps protrude into the wheel well. I've seen posts saying it will rub the flaps and others saying it won't. But I still haven't found a post from someone with the exact setup I have who can confirm. I'm sure they're out there, just figured I'd try to find them.
With the 275/65r20 michelins, i get within about an inch while turning.

I see. It might be a little harder to find those that have the OEM molded mudflaps too. So the question is, do 295 65 20's, on a stock 20-22 Super Duty with OEM mudflaps, rub on the mud flaps. I did a quick search and found a guy with a stock 2017(close enough) that said the 295's on stock wheel rub a bit on his Ford flaps...but, they did not look like the same flaps you have.
I know a lot of owners include that they have HD springs, or snow plow prep when talking tire size, but that's meaningless in my eyes. Not only is that only 1/2"-1" difference in static ride height, but it still has the same suspension trajectory. Meaning that tire is still passing that same potential rub point at various times. So if they don't ever rub on those trucks, I wouldn't expect them to rub on a truck with standard springs either.
285's do sound like the safe bet. Even though they don't gain much in size over stock, it is something and would probably look good on a stock truck.
I am surprised there is an issue. I have the 285/75-18's and weather tech flaps, which also protrude into the wheel well and I have run a heavy set of tire chains and not had any rubbing. I think there is plenty of room for the 295's seems like lots of people run them. Doesn't seem like just going to the 285 is worth it unless you are ready to replace the tires anyway.

I agree, doesn't seem like it should be an issue. But there's differing opinions in all the threads I've seen (including this one lol). All the responses have been helpful though, especially the pics of with various sizes installed.

My size has been covered in a pic and under the conditions that required all four chains, I didn't stop for a photo op, or I would have posted one. I do think the slight lift the plow prep has does make a difference because a different part of the wheel passes the tightest spot. My gas truck with plow springs sits quite a bit higher than some of the pics in the thread. I am on the 285/75-18's 2022 7.3 plow prep
Just following up in case it helps anyone... pocs don't even do it justice. I went with a 1.5 inch level (block under spring perch) and 295/65r20 ridge grapplers. Zero issues rubbing including ford mudflaps. I'm still teakeing the drag link to get the sterring wheel perfect, but it drives absolutley no different than stock. Didn't use caster shims or adjustable track bar. 1.5 inch seems to be a great option for anyone wanting a slightly more aggressive stance without sacrificing ride quality.
