I don't know about air conditioning but I'm trying to fix mine while including a mechanic..
NEW PARTS:
Compresor (last year but end of summer so didn't run it)
Condenser (last year when I did the compresor )
Accumulator (last week)
Orifice tube (last week)
The system has been vaccumed and charged w no leaks... I went back to the mechanic today (2 days since the charge) cause it wasn't hitting 43 degrees anymore. It was 68 out today and it was only coming out 60 from the vents. (UV dye is in the system and checked for leaks, still good)
The mechanic said he thinks I have a weak compresor and doesn't have enough suction because the low side isn't hitting 45 or lower. Anyone know about this? Is it overcharged? Idk what to believe or what to do lol he keeps telling me not to worry about my evaporator because it's not leaking.. (neither of us took it apart to look at it) I said what if it's clogged... He Still doesn't recommend changing it. I also mentioned maybe change the hoses that go from the compressor to the drier since they get clogged in the rubber tube I heard..
FYI don't have a fan shroud installed. Ordered one which is here but need the screws.
Was the orfice tube changed when the compressor was replaced?
Thats alot of garbage in the orfice tube, its either from the last compressor or the current one.
Hard to say about the 50/190, is that the lowest the low side gets? Or the highest?
What was ambient temp when that was taken?
The orifice tube was replaced last week. Pretty much the new compressor and condenser were running w the other old parts. I wasnt to knowledgeable on this as I am now. For example the compressor and the accumulator get swapped at the same time I was told.
So after replacing the accumulator and changing the orifice tube I had a leak I fixed (O rings), while the system was empty I opened the orifice tube back up to check which had already been a few days of use and it was still clean. So Def from before I purchased the truck. The old compressor I took out was shot.
50 was the lowest it'll go at idle. If I raise the rpms to 1200 itll go to 45. The ambient temp was 69 degrees.
Thank you for this. The first chart I have saved in my phone and I showed the mechanic. He made it like he couldn't get it to that and blamed the suction of the compressor. The second one you sent is an awesome break down.
According to the chart pressures are high-high.
do you know how much refrigerant was put in?
Sounds like an evacuate and recover then recharge is in order.

Did you take steps to THOROUGHLY clean and remove all of the possible debris left in the system? I'm pretty sure if you removed the new oriface tube that you will find more of that black crap stuck to the filter media. Short of a wholesale replacement of EVERYTHING all at once, there's a big cleanout job in your future to get 100% AC performance back.
When I checked the new orifice tube it was basically clean there was Very little black specs on it which I blew off with an air gun. Nowhere near as bad as the old one. I didn't thoroughly clean everything else internally minus what I can reach at the access points. I really don't know about AC at all and the mechanic didn't mention a flush or anything.
I also just read there are screens where the lines go into the condesor that could be clogged?
When I start driving it gets Colder which leads me to believe I need to get that fan shroud on asap. Maybe those rubber hoses from the compressor have a lot of build up and I need to replace them.
"Compresor (last year but end of summer so didn't run it) "
FYI for all, IMO just because it may be the " end of summer "
All vehicles should have their air conditioner activated for a few minutes, at least, every 15 days or so.

Reason: cuz
Another question. Is your fan clutch engaging? Need airflow over the condensor in order for the hot freon to be cooled down before it goes through the compressor. It should come on with a dull fan roar when you are pulling away from a light with the AC on. AC off, not so much, but you'll still hear it, but with the AC on it will let you know.
I installed the fan shroud today along with a new fan clutch even tho I don't think there was anything wrong w the old one but just to be on the safe side since I had to remove it anyway to get the shroud in. I never hear a difference of the fan roar even now with the new one.
I also feel the ac might be a little betterst idle then it was possibly because of the shroud. It's been in the 60s outside lately but notice it feel cooler when it's been in the 70s. I'll have to test it on the next hot day.
