I am bleeding the brakes on my truck and the front use a 3/8 wrench and fit fine. The rear however have a size somewhere between 10mm an 3/8. 3/8 is too small and 10mm is just a little too big and it's just rounding off the valve. The need to use vice grips seems odd... What the heck is going on????
3/8" is 9.525 mm, or less than 1/2 mm under a 10 mm.
3.07/8" (half way between 10 mm and 3/8") is 9.74 mm (not really a standard size).
Not much room for another size there.
Are you using a 6 point box ended brake bleeder wrench? Somebody else maybe tighten it enough that a open end wrench just slips around? Mine work fine with a 6 point socket or box end to loosen them. I think 3/8" is the one ... but might be 10 mm.
