Reseehc_99's Build thread

I picked up my new F-350 yesterday. The modifications have already started. I will post them here for others to follow along for information on how to do each. First, I'm starting with a 2022 F-350 SRW XL w/STX Package 7.3 4:30 elocker 4x4 CC LB. Ihave acquired several things to add to the truck while I waited for it to be built (only 3 months). I'll probably post a separate reply for each mod so they're easier to track. Please feel free to ask questions and/or give advice.

The first mod was to add the factory under seat storage compartment under the rear seat. I found one on Facebook marketplace for $100. The only other thing I needed to install was 4 bolts. Factory bolt size is M8-1.25 x 30mm. The factory installed ones have the bolts installed from underneath the truck and the box sits over them and is secured with nuts. I elected to install the bolts from the top instead. The cab is threaded already so no nuts were required and I didn't have to crawl under the truck. Locating the 4 spots that needed to be cut in the vinyl floor was super simple. Just sit the box in place and install the tire tool bolt/hold down to locate it correctly then mark the 4 holes with a silver sharpie. Remove box and cut floor at marks. All 4 of mine were located perfectly this way and I only had to cut a spot out of the floor approximately the size of a quarter. These are hidden with the box installed so I wasn't worried about making them pretty, just cut them out with a razor knife. Total install time was 20-30 minutes and everything looks factory.

The 2nd mod was wheels and tires. I am not a huge fan of the STX/XLT Base rims. I found a set of Lariat 18" machined aluminum takeoffs on Facebook marketplace. They were $600 with lug nuts, center caps, and TPMS. The guy I bought them from removed them at 9,000 miles to install Tremor takeoffs. I should be able to sell my wheels/tires and at least break even, if not make a little money.

The 3rd mod (kind of) was to install the lower cup holder that Ford cheaped out on and no longer includes with the 40/20/40 jump seat. I found the part number on this forum and ordered from Fairway Ford in OH. I believe it was about $20 + shipping. There are at least 2 different part numbers with the difference being the distance between the cup holders and the jump seat. I opted for the longer one.

Number 4 really isn't a mod, but thanks to the information from this forum, I knew that my owners manual would not come in a storage pouch so I kept the one from my trade in. It fits perfectly and saved me $15 - $20 if I would have had to buy one.

Mod number 5 was adding running boards. I ordered the truck without them because I'm cheap and I'm not fond of how low the factory boards are. I like the way the truck looks without, but it takes effort for me to get in so there's no way my wife, 12 year old, or 5 year old would live without steps. I got a set of F-150 takeoffs from Facebook marketplace for $100 and they mounted right up to the factory studs. These aren't in perfect condition so my plan is to have them coated when I have my bed lined. It looks like adding the steps reduced the height required to step into the truck by almost 8.5"
