Was down at the dealer yesterday and the tech told me that Ford is gonna have a late release on a 6 cylinder desiel for the new F 150's. Numbers are rumored around 340HP and 480trq.
That diesel was stopped by Ford almost a year ago. Int'l sued Ford and Ford paid Int'l a bunch of money to settle. Int'l is now trying to sell the V-6 to someone else. Toyota and Nissan are rumored to be interested.
Old, old news. Where has your tech been? On a deserted island?
I heard of a V-6 Diesel for the F-150, too. I heard it was cancelled because it costs too much to develop. I guess you never know whats true and whats not when it comes to future products.
Originally posted by King Ranch Well they say it is still coming.Sorry but I learned along time ago that not everything I hear is trueon this forum. Guess We'll have to wait and see.
Go ahead and wait, but it's not happening.
There is an article all about it at www.autonews.com, but you have to be a subscriber to access it.
There have been several other articles as well.
Ford wasn't sure that the 4.5 baby PSD could meet 2007 emissions, so they backed out.
Navistar sued Ford, and Ford paid Navistar something like $32 mil. to settle the lawsuit.
A lot of the things that you see on this forums ARE true.
CHICAGO -- Truck and diesel engine maker Navistar International Corp. said it has reached a settlement with Ford Motor Co. over the automaker's decision to cancel a V-6 diesel engine contract.
If you pick the hood up on a 6.0 diesel and look at the belt diagram, it also shows the belt diagram for the 4.5 V6. Might mean something and then again......
