Problem with my driveline. really technical:
I have a 1995 Ford F150 Super cab.
Anyways. my truck came with a Ford 8.8 Inch Dif with 308 gears. it has an AOD tranny and a 5.8L (351) engine. it also has rear ABS
Last night I decided to swap out the dif (it was howling a lot) for a 1976 Ford 9 Inch housing with 350 gears in it.
The conversion went really well, except for the fact that I have lost my speedometer and my O/D light is flashing. I also don't have ABS anymore but we were expecting that since the 9 Inch doesn't have ABS
Here is the problem I have run into: On my old dif, the ABS sensor and the speed sensor are one in the same. by removing ABS I removed my speed sensor.
This is my question: Can I bypass that sensor and run it straight though to the tranny (which is the AOD)? If so, how can I do this.
Here are some pictures of my truck. it's dorpped 10 Inches

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

I hesitate to answer your post, but no one else has yet. You don't have an AOD trans. The AOD was all mechanical, no OD light, etc., and in trucks was usually behind a 302 or less. And it would have been prior to your year.
I think you most likely have an E4OD behind that 351. The "E" is for electrically shifted. The EEC is doing the shifting, using inputs that it collects. Like the speed sensor on the rear axle that you used to have. That speed sensor's output went up to the PSOM, IIRC, where it is adapted (and also used for the speedo/odo functions), and then a signal was sent on to the EEC to show road speed.
If your transmission is still shifting, it must be using a default table, or guessing, I don't know!

The other replys are correct. I also have a 95 F-150, and if your OD off switch is in the end of the shift arm, then you more than likely (unless you swapped it out) have the E4OD. There is no provision to connect your speed sensor to this tranny. What you can do, is look for a 9" from either a special ordered 150 or light duty 250 around the same year as your truck, or go to someplace like Currie Enterprises and have them drill, tap and set up your 9" to mount the speed sensor into. You will still loose the ABS, but the rest of the speedo, tranny, and etc. parts will work again. I personnally wouldn't drive it too much like that until you get it fixed.
The other option you have is to rebuild or trade in another 8.8. Strength wise, the 8.8 and 9" are close, and your truck is lowered, not lifted, so off-roading and bigger tires won't be a factor. Basically there is no significant gain into swapping this rear, other than cool points
