84 f150 transmission swap

Hi everyone, I am swapping my blown C4 for a Mazda 5 spd from a 96 f150. Both of the trucks are single cab long box 2 wd and both have the 300 4.9. Do I need to use the drive shaft I get with the manual or can I use the one that that was attached to the blown C4?

I have done two of the M5OD swaps, the first in my '84 F150. You'll want the driveshaft that goes with the 5spd if you can get it. Grab the crossmember also, the 5spd tunnel cover, and the plug/pigtail wiring for the reverse switch on the trans. You will also need the starter for the manual trans.

The downside to the 1996 5spd is that there will be nowhere to connect your speedometer cable. To do that you'd need a 5spd from 1988-1991, or you may be able to swap the tailshaft housing and parts from an 88-91 trans, I'm not sure.

You will also need a hydraulic manual trans pedal set from a 1984-1986 Bullnose, and a manual trans steering column (and the little blank piece for the instrument cluster if you're fussy).

Trans swap

Can’t I use all of the clutch pedal assembly from the donor truck?

1987-up clutch assembly won't fit any 1986-dwn application.
