2001 Excursion 6.8L Valve Covers

2001 Excursion 6.8L Valve Covers
Hello! I've run into a problem. I was replacing the pcv grommet on my passenger side valve cover, and noticed I have a metal piece bouncing around on top of my cam shaft! From the research I've done, it looks like it's most likely a shield that prevents the pcv valve from sucking up oil.
Has anyone come across this problem? If so, do I just need a new valve cover then I'm thinking? From the little I can see through the hole the cam shaft has already worn away some metal from the shield. I've parked the truck for now and will be opening it up this week.
My main problem and question is where the heck do you find valve covers for this engine? I've gone to two different salvage yards around here and they don't have any of these engines around (only an older version that has a different valve cover). I've found they are discontinued on any kind of Ford part site. I'm at a bit of a loss.

Yeah I could do that. I haven't used jbweld before, I'm guessing it's not too hard for this application? Just have to really clean the surfaces off.
