I have an 03 that I bought last year. The Ac is not working. Blower /control module all work. I have the dye/ correct oil and the tool to inject it to find leaks. Also have pressure gauges. I plan to check pressure readings first. My guess is there is no or low pressure. My understanding is that the compressor will not try to engage at all if the pressure is not correct. Hopefully I can find the leak. Is there a way to test the compressor to confirm it should work with the proper charge?
Thank you
Read the HVAC FAQS in the HVAC sub-forum. They apply to your truck although written for the F150. Link is in my signature.
A quick "cheat" is to disconnect the low pressure cycling switch and jumper the connector pins in the harness and see whether or not the clutch pulls in. If it does, the system is likely discharged (or the switch is bad). If it doesn't, see the FAQs for details.
