Just curious, is the emisions light the same as a check engine light? I have an 85 f150 with the eec-iv and feedback carb, and some of the stuff I've read about pulling the codes says they will flash out on the check engine light if equipped. I don't have a check engine light, just wondering what the emisions light does, thanks
I don't think they're the same. My emissions light never came on when I first got my truck. However, the county I live in, does not have emissions laws. So, I got rid of the smog pump, and took the converters off my truck, and it's been on ever since. I would say it's for those items.
The emissions light is set to come on at a certain number of hours equal to roughly 60,000 miles. It was to remind you to check or replace certain emissions components. The light is in no way associated with the EEC-IV computer. Here is an old thread with the reset procedure.
