I remember all of it and we were still using rotary phones to boot.
I remember when even having a phone---party line or not----was absolutely a luxury. If you had an extension phone OMG you were rich!
I also recall when touch tone phones became available---I had to carefully consider switching from my rotary due the extra cost--a whole $1 making the monthly bill a whopping $5.95. That would have been about 1974 or so?

I read a story last week that a Jeep owner is being sued for $15M because a mechanic was killed. The Jeep had been brought in for routine service but the technician, a millenial, had no experience with a standard transmission. He tried to start the Jeep (without getting in) but it wouldn't start. He put his foot on the brake but it still wouldn't start. He stepped on the clutch and the Jeep started. When he took his foot off the clutch the Jeep lurched forward, crushing the mechanic in front of it. The laws in that state put a lot of shielding on those responsible so the mechanic's family/estate is suing the Jeep owner!
I remember when beer cans weren't aluminum. I am younger than some (hope I never catch up), but older than most on here. My young days I remember started around 1965.
Is that what happened, my gawd. I remember seeing the headlines but I didnt read it. Thanks Bass

How did the mechanic step on the clutch and stand in front of the jeep at the same time, Plastic man have a son? lol Something isn't quite right with your story.
two mechanics.
the one doing the oil change was in front of the yeep.
the steering wheel holder that did not know what a manual trans was was along side the yeep.
