4R100 1-2 Shift Issue
Hello all, Newbie here. 2005 Excursion, V-10, 111K on the clock. Son drove the wife's daily, came home and said it won't shift out of 1st until 3500 rpm. If i start off slow and ease into the throttle it shifts fine. If I get on it with normal acceleration, it shifts at 3500. Manually shifting the truck everything works. Came up with a few codes on the trans. First showed code for speed sensor on the rear diff., got that taken care of, then showed P1832 & 1876. I changed out the vac. solenoid, all good. Then P 0781 showed up. I pulled the valve body and found a broken spring on the 1-2 valve. No big debris in the pan. I replaced the spring & filter, cleaned it up and checked all the valves, springs, etc. and still have the issue. Just for kicks, I changed out the solenoids with a new unit that my brother had, no change. Fluid doesn't smell burnt, dirty, still red. So I guess my question is this: Is the broken spring the result of a bigger problem ? I've read a lot of similar posts, didn't see anything exactly like this. Sorry if redundant. Appreciate any help.
