Battery jumper cable

With my battery under the floor on my53 f100 and putting carpet done, I am thinking I should put in a post and cable to be able to easily jump start if needed. Where is the best place to pu one and where do you connect the cable? Directly to the battery or to the positive post on the starter?

I did the same... #4 cable straight off the battery terminal to the red insulated lug ... (ground cable goes directly to frame) on a plate mounted to the front of the passenger front cab mount...I also use them to attach a Battery Tender to keep the battery topped off. As low as my truck is there ain't no getting to the battery under the running board mounted on the frame

I put a terminal on the + side of my starter relay under the hood. I also use it to connect a trickle charger that keeps the battery topped off.

All great information.
If you plan to relocate the gas tank, use the existing filler location for a gas tank door with the terminals mounted behind it.
Kind of trick and easy access.

i put my battery box right up front by the front fender -i had a guy weld it to the frame (i had some stainless steel laying so he used that to make the box) i works out just great-i can lean over the front fender and charge the battery-it is a real great place-i can use jumper cables because they are right in front of me-it is easy to charge and when the time comes it is so easy to change your battery. i just thought about that a year or two ago-sure glad that i did-my buddy liked it so much he did the same thing-think about it i just thought that maybe i could help H B

On my 49 the battery is up under the cab on the right side in a drop down box. I added the battery lugs to the rear running board bracket for charging.

I left my battery in the stock location and had the upholstery guy put a boarder in the carpet so I can peel it back . I have to take off the trim on the inside of the cab but not a big deal. I had to replace battery a few weeks ago and went ahead and hooked up a battery tender with the tender leads coming up close to the solenoid. Works great. I might do what some of you guys did and run some posts up into the engine compartment. I never fail to learn something reading these post's.

do you need a negative one? Can't you just ground the jumper cable to a good ground point like the frame?
