Scan/Diagnostic Tool Recommendation?
Can anybody recommend a diagnostic scan tool to check codes on '00 expy/5.4/4x4? Who carries them and how much do they cost? How do you hook them up to the wiring harness? Is there a reference list for what the codes mean? Finally, is there a Ford diagnostic manual that details real troubleshooting for computer controls on these trucks? (The 2 volume Ford shop manual sucks).

Save your money unless you want to drop about 200 beans, just go to any AutoZone and they will put it on the scanner and read it for free. Only takes about 2 minutes. If you absolutely have to have it you can get it almost anywhere they have them or Summit or Jegs have them also. For the 00' you need the OBD II unit.

I just ran across one that advertises specifically for Ford products. Called AutoDiag by Diagtek: www.diagtek.com
Not only reads PCM codes and real-time measurements, but also other modules such as GEM.
Anyone have any experience with this particular tool? I was thinking about buying one, but really would like a "real user" experience first. Thanks.
