I bought a 351w motor out of a 92 E150 van with a auto trans, im swapping the motor in place of a 300 inline 6 with a m5od 5 spped trans which i plan on using with the 351w, now i read that the computer ment for the auto trans will drive funky with a 5 speed, im wondering can i use a computer for a f250 with a 351w / zf5 combo for my 351w / m5od swap? The zf5 and m5od drive similar as far as rpm range during shifting. Let me know if you have any suggestions on which computer i will need to make this work, i already have the flywheel / clutch ready to go
Umm… What year is your truck? I would say your best bet would be to use a V8 ECM for your model year designed for use with a M5OD, ZF5, AOD or C6. Ford would change wiring pinouts every so often. Whatever circuit pin 5 is on a ‘92 computer might be pin 10 on your truck
My truck is a 1995 f150 originally with a inline 6 and m5od, as far as i know they never made a ecu for a 351w and m5od. Using my original ecu for the 4.9 I6 would not work at all with any v8 motor.
Which leads me back to my question would a F250 351w/zf5 ECU work with a 351w/m5od in a f150?

I answered your question. The transmissions I listed are all not controlled by the computer so any of them would work.
Yes.

I believe any ECU for a '95 F-Series with 5.8L and Manual Transmission (or other non-computer-controlled transmission, like a C6) should work.
