Brakes

Picked up a 2008 F250 SD diesel last week. It has been sitting for awhile and the guy drove it with grinding brakes in the rear until the piston pop out of the caliper. He also drove it with no fluid to get it home for a distance going slow. Put new calipers, rotors and pads on the rear but can’t get a good pedal. Have about half, no more air, good fluid coming out of all bleeders and master cylinder. Also activated the abs switch with a scan tool. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

I had a similar problem a while back. I put what I assumed was a new right side caliper on but turns out it was really a left side - someone must have done a return and put it in the wrong box. The result was that the bleeder was on the bottom and would not bleed properly..

If they truck was driven after the caliper failure and loss of fluid I would imagine the ABS system has some air in it. It will need to be cycled either by an electronic interface or some creative loose surface skidding. I don’t have have any experience with this situation but have read a few threads here of folks dealing with it both ways.

Thanks I have bled the abs with a scanner several times. I think I may have a bad master cylinder. Thanks again for your time

Well the problem was the master cylinder. I guess from using it with no fluid it ruined the seals in it. I have great brakes now. Thanks for all the help.
