Just acquired a (new to me) 01 Expy eddie bauer - car is beautiful and I love it!
I have a couple of small probs to attend to though:
1) the drivers' side window won't work. I can hear a 'click' near the fuse section when I press the button, but no other sounds or motion. Where to start to troubleshoot? Motor? is the glass stuck? In certain instances (car on, in park, holding tongue in correct spot, head tilted ) the theft light will momentarily flash when I try and lower this window.
2) a couple of the power seat controls don't work... the front 'up' does, but the front 'down' does not... replace the switch?
I also have a 2001 xpy and had the exact same problem. at 55,000 I had to go a replace the driver window motor. the motor was about $90. the dealer killed me for about $220 in diagnosis and labor. go ahead and replace the motor 99% of the time that's what it is anyway.
do it yourself if your able you'll save alot of $$$.
Shop book calls for around 2 hrs labor. I've never done one, but understand they are not impossible to do, just takes a while with door panel disassembly and reassembly. I think they are riveted, but not positive.
The clicking sound you are hearing is from the "express down" or "auto down" relay which is in the door. It will activate and hold until the window reaches the bottom and then deactivate (release) when the motor pulls too much current from bottoming out (so to speak).
I had the same problem in both my 99 EXPY and my 94 Mustang. The problem wasn't so much that the motor went bad. The real problem is that after being run so many times, the grease in the worm gear of the motor gets really sticky and doesn't allow the motor to run without pulling too much current.
Take your door apart and pull the motor out. (Take your time and stay calm....believe it or not, it will come out without a hammer or torch).
Make sure that your window slides up and down with realative ease. (If not, put some lithium grease on the metal track slides.)
The motor assembly can be taken apart carefully. Clean the worm gear and re-lube with lithium grease.
Once the motor is re-assembled, connect it to the wiring harness and make sure that it working.
If the motor is working, reinstall it and keep your fingers crossed. This will definately extend the life of your window motors.
please take the time to do a search on this topic.I found some very valuble info, such as.. the door panel will come off easily don`t beat on it. It has a couple of clips on the top off the door that the panel slids straight up off of after you remove all the screws Good luck
No special tools needed. Look behind obvious smaller panels for philips screws, a couple little bolts and a wire plug or two. The big panel itself is removed in an UPWARD fashion, NOT outward.
Thanks for the door panel info. I will try it tomorrow. I did find one small screw under the red light lens in the door. I did not see any others. Thanks again.

Look around the door handle and under the sail panel way up in the top corner.
