I just installed my rebuilt diff and had a new clutch pack added to my Traction Lok. When I drove it forward it sounded like the brake on the right side was dragging. Sounded almost like a creeking sound. Drove it up and down the drive and when I turn it makes the noise but it is getting quieter. Could this be the clutch pack?

I take it this is the posi? I know lockers make noise but I figure this is suppose to be normal.

 

Did you add some limited slip additive to the gear oil? The Ford Motorsport stuff that the Ford dealerships sells works good.. It will keep the noise level down.. After I had the Dana Power locker in my D60 rebuilt is was noisy, especially while turning slow, like in a drive through line.. The additive really helped..Give it a try..

Yes I did add it. I don't think the oil had time to soak right in after I filled the diff.

This posi never worked before as she was pretty worn so I really don't know what to expect from a posi. I was worried something wasn't right after I put her all back together. I did notice the noise go much quieter when moving it back and forth in the drive.

So the noice is normal with posi then?

 

How much additive do you put in? The dealer gave me one bottle and I think it was 6.5 oz

 

Actually, it was 4 oz. That doesn't seem like much.
