So, I want to do a leak down test on my truck. A year or two I bought a Harbor Freight leak down tester and just got around to trying to use it. Well, it doesn't have an adaptor that fits our spark plug thread type.
No one seems to sell just the adaptors. So, I'm looking to buy one that will work on our trucks. But every one I see has metric adaptors. I assume there is a metric size that will work. The question is what is that size?
I found one that has more sizes:
Kit features a pressure regulated manifold with quick couplers, 24 inch long 14mm flex hose, and 10 mm, 12 mm, and 18 mm thread adapters
Another as 12 and 14mm adapters.
I'm hoping to get one that will work this time. I looked at my compression tester hose to see if I can use that, but I can't separate it from the gauge.
I just had my leak down tester on the truck a few days ago. Mine is OTC brand and the hose threaded right in without needing an adapter on the end. I can check the thread size a little later on today
Based on a 1955 F-250 239 Y-Block, you should be using something like a Champion 21 / RF14YC or an Autolite 46 or similar spark plug, all of which have a standard 18x1.50 Metric spark plug thread.
thanks guys, not sure why I didn't think to google my plugs. So 18X1.50. I'm running Autolite 46 at the moment.
I was looking at the OTC brand one. Of course now you have me wondering if I missed it on the one I have. So I stopped here and ran out to the shop, my main hose is way smaller than my plug.
