My 2018 f250 woth 6.7L gets 24.9 mpg on highway at 65mph. Which I think is damn good. I get roughly 7-8 mpg towing.

I don’t know which gets better mpg. But I do know I’m not super happy with my 2022 f250 7.3 3.55 fx4’s driveability and now have the exact same truck on order but with 4.3’s.

Yes, the dead pedal sucks big time. I reduced the deadness with a Soler throttle controller which helped a lot.

There's more to it than gas mileage, which the 7.3L and an adult driver will win by just a little bit every time. That 1 MPG may not be much to others, but at 30 gallons per fill up (35 gallon tank) that's 30 free miles, which saves me about $10 per tank per fill up at todays prices. That little savings does matter, as people will drive to the station across the street for 10 cents a gallon savings.

But before you decide, go watch some You Tubes about changing 16 spark plugs on a 6.2 and if after that, you still want one, order now cause the wait times are not getting any shorter. But I suspect you'll come away wanting the much easier to maintain 7.3

2022 SD can no longer be ordered and 2023 can’t be ordered yet.

After going from a 6.2 to the 7.3, I think your choice of tires make have more effect on mpg than engine choice.

I know most people will hate this response but your MPG is all about your driving style. I get 18-19 on my ‘19 6.7 consistently. I had a trip last summer that was all back roads between 45-50 mph and I was close to 23mpg. I did a lot of research on the rear end gear ratio before buying mine and there is less than 1mpg difference from the stock gear to a 3.73.

My 2022 F250 4x4 STX with 3.73's gets 13.5 mpg in mixed driving, about 8 mpg towing a 7k enclosed trailer.

Not arguing the 7.3L is a bit simpler to maintain but the 2017+ engine bay has ample room to change the spark plugs on the 6.2L. On top of that the spark plug interval is 100,000 miles and the spark plugs actually last much longer than that. Most initial owners of the 6.2L are going to change spark plugs once if not at all under their ownership. Just saying spark plugs wouldnt turn me off of an $1800 savings going with the 6.2L

Both engines get the same mileage. Ive spent plenty of time with both engines in identical trucks (F350 XL RCLB 4x4) and they operate very similar of each other with very minor difference.

I just did a 400 mile round trip empty with maybe 1500 pounds of tools and materials in the bed. With 37’s and a 17 ccsb 6.7 and I won’t comment on the highway speeds on here but 13.6 mpg hand calculated

Towing in the wind this weekend, I got a sweet 7.6. 7.3/430 pulling a 6K flat-nosed travel trailer.

On my way home from IA picking up my truck I got up to 14.4 mpg. Yesterday we drove about 2.5 hours each way to a college in IL. Going there I got about 14.3 cruising at 75.

While at the college I topped off with 90 octane ethanol free gas. My mileage dropped to 13.2'ish driving at the same speed. No wind to speak of. I was assuming I would get better mileage with the ethanol free gas but I was wrong.

Now, it could be the station pump said ethanol free 90 but maybe it wasn't. I'll never know. I'm going to try my experiment again with ethanol free 90 from the airport once I run this tank low.

Did you check to see if it was delivered with the front hubs locked? Many are, mine was. I discovered it 300 miles from the dealer on my way home. Mileage was around 13.5 mpg running 80 mph. Unlocking the hubs to "auto" gained me 2 mpg and I did 15-16 at 80 mph after that.
