Does anyone have the part number for the copper washers that seal the injectors? I'm having a tough time finding the part number. Also, are the washers the same between the 7.3idi and the 7.3 Powerstroke? I see a lot of places that have them for the powerstroke but can't find any offering just the washer for the IDI.
Alternatively, does anyone know if I could just use a generic copper washer of the same size, or are these a special design? I know I have one leaking but haven't pulled it yet to look at it.
Your local dealer should be able to get you a part number easy, these trucks aren’t that old yet. For some reason I can’t find the number either, there used to be two good parts websites online, but they’re no longer available. Used to have diagrams and everything. If they still have the copper washers, I don’t think they’d be too expensive.
Thanks for the reply. I tried reaching out to Ford and these washers are backordered with no estimated delivery date. I've bought a set of generic imperial copper washers and am going to try them. If it works ill post back with the size I used.
If it's time to change out the return hoses, caps, and o-rings, the washers come with pretty much any of the injector install kits available everywhere. This is the kit I bought for my 6.9 a couple years ago, but there are any number of other kits listed.
Obviously the injectors between the IDI and PS are completely different technology, mounting location, and design, so I would have serious doubts as to any interchangability even of something as simple as a copper washer.
You don`t always have to buy a whole new fuel return kit,
you can purchase from Mcmaster-Carr a bag of the Viton "O" Rings
and a length of new hose from the parts store if it needs replacing.
Lot of times if a cap gets moved, turned, wiggled etc... they can leak.
Then you just need to replace the "O" Rings...but wait there is more.
You will have to do the whole side as an assembly, as fixing just the one
offending leaker, you ending up moving the one next to it etc....
Been there, done it.
I have replaced the "O" Rings and still use the old caps. If you do use a
new kit, keep the old caps just in case something happens and a cap cracks.
There is the brass caps "Dregs Diesel..or Garage" sells...pretty.
