Drilling holes!!

What are you guys doing to prevent corrosion on your rigs after drilling holes? I am adding trigger long john mud flaps and will have to drill some holes in the fender wells. My plan is to drill the holes, seal up the exposed metal with por 15 paint and then use aluminum hardware with a coating of aluminum corrosion inhibitor on it. I hate to do it but I need the flaps. I already drilled into the bed to add a trailer plug and I cried a little doing that.

Its best to not mix metals when trying to avoid corrosion. Now that you have aluminum fasteners you'll probably want to add zinc anodes like boat motors and RV hot water tanks have.

i added heat shrink to isolate the metal bolts from the aluminum to avoid whatever chemical reaction happens when you mix steel and aluminum.

I used these screws all day long, They are carbon base steel. Dont use them unless steel to steel.

When screwing to aluminum, use stainless steel fasteners
