I am looking for options for power steering. I have seen the post for the crown vic front ends but that is way beyond what i think i can do..
I am looking for suggestions on kits specificly for the 64 f100 and some reviews from people who have used them.
TY.
I am in the process of doing PS on my '62 F100. The first thing I have found is that there is still no kit that actually works as a "bolt-in" for the 61-64. There are a few advertised to fit but be careful of ones listed to fit 61-66... I think there are a few on eBay that are listed that way. I am using the '57-'60 kit from CPP and modifying it to work with the '62. First I took off the 57-60 mounting bracket and made one that utilizes the stock 61-64 holes in the frame while keeping the pitman arm location untouched. Their PS box sits up higher than the stock one so the Z bar for the clutch has to go. I am putting a hydraulic clutch and a Mustang T5 behind my Y Block so no issue there for me. John Mummert sells a nice bracket for the Borgeson pump. You can buy the pump new at Summit Racing, etc. I am also doing a one off Frankenstein of a steering column/steering wheel from some different year t-birds. You can cut your stock column shaft and use a U-Joint or rag joint, and keep the column/wheel stock. I was considering a Ididit tilt column because I wanted to change the angle of the column and wheel a bit. You can get a 31" column meant for a '65 I believe and then you can use your stock steering wheel... The setup for the 57-60 from CPP is based on the Toyota 4x4 PS that many have used. I wish I were a little farther along in the process to be more help. Another option is the electric rack and pinion kit or the electric Prius or Volvo conversions that some are using... I don't know much about those last 2... They may be worth a look. Here are a few photos of my setup as it now sits....
Bracket at the lower left was replaced with the aluminum one seen at the upper right.
